The official name of the Mormon Church is
Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Saints, and mormons wish to be
called Latter-day Saints, or LDS -- Mormon being just a main character of
their sacred book, the Book of Mormon.

Mormon Church was founded in 1830 by Joseph Smith and is the only faith born on US soil and still active to this
day. Its administrative and religious headquaters have been established
in Salt Lake City, Utah since the mid-19th century.

Latter-day Saints abandoned the
practice of polygamy in 1890. Those
who keep practicing it are fundamentalists rejected by the LDS Church
and belong to or create alternative movements.

A good mormon drinks no alcohol, no
coffee (cafeine) or tea , does not smoke,
eats as healthy as possible, and gives a tenth of his earning (tithing)
to the Church.
