How many Mormons are there in the world? Where is established the Mormon Church? Are there more LDS in America or in the world?

What is the Church growth rate? Is the Mormon Church a global church?  What is the worldwide distribution? How many mormon missionaries are there?

Mormon Demography

From its foundation, the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints (LDS Chruch) has experienced a steady growth on par with its missionary effort.  However, statistics have to be carefully analyzed for church membership statistics actually refer batptism data.  No one exactly knows what proportion of members remain active mormons on the long term.  The most pessimistic surveys claim that only half of the LDS population are faithful church-goers.

The mid-1990s marked an interesting reversal in mormon demographic trends: today more mormons live outside US borders than on American soil.  The Chrurch is well established in South American countries such as Brazil and in Pacific islands and territories.  Although the LDS Church has obviously become an international Church this international expansion will certainly create a challenge to this very American Church. The Mormon Church is spreading throughout the globe, but many wonder if this is sufficient to make it a global Church?

Fabrice Cellier

In 2005, the Chruch of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints claimed 12 560 869 members

How many mormon (LDS) missionaries are sent on the road every year ?

The number of men actually serving is much higher than the number of men called to serve for mormon missionaries usually go on a two-year mission.

Between 50 000 and 60 000 LDS missionaries are permanently wakling the streets of the world and convert an average of 250 000 people a year.
